1.1 CBC Education Statement
1.1 CBC Education expects all staff and service users to follow a code of conduct to ensure that all parties can have an enjoyable experience and gain the most value from their tutoring experience.
1.2 In this code of conduct we set out the acceptable standards of behaviour for all staff and volunteers within our organisation. We have a duty of care to safeguard the children we work with.
1.3 If CBC Education suspects, or becomes aware that a staff member or volunteer has breached this code of conduct, the organisation will address this in accordance with the Performance Management Policy

3. Confidentiality
3.1 Information about a service user must only be shared with the relevant parties. No confidential information about a service user is to be kept on personal devices.
4. Behaviour and Use of Appropriate Language
4.1 Treat all children, young people and service users with respect and dignity
4.2 Use appropriate language around young people and service users, and when discussing individuals outside of session
4.3 Ensure that their welfare and safety is always paramount
4.4 Always act in a professional way and not accept bullying, swearing or other disruptive behaviour
4.5 Liaise openly with parents and carers regarding activities and events
4.6 Always adhere to safe working practices and all relevant policies
4.7 Act upon any disclosures, concerns or allegations about the welfare of children using the appropriate disclosure process
4.8 Acknowledge and practice the most up to date KCSIE document
4.9 Recognise that the behaviour of your partner or family members may raise questions about your suitability to work with children
5. Dress and Appearance
5.1 You need to dress in a way appropriate to your work role
5.2 Do not dress in a way that could be deemed offensive or inappropriate
5.3 Do not dress in a way that could case embarrassment or distraction
6. Gifts, Rewards and Favouritism
6.1 Ensure gifts received are declared to your manager
6.2 Only give gifts to children as part of an agreed reward system
6.3 Do not accept any gift which could be seen as a bribe
7. Online Safety
7.1 Do not add parents or children to your personal social media accounts
7.2 Be sure to adhere to all the procedures in our e-safety policy
7.3 Ensure that any online content being shown to children has been checked beforehand and is age appropriate
7.4 When inappropriate online content is found report to the safeguarding lead immediately
7.5 When taking photos and videos of children be clear to them about the purpose of the activity
7.6 Only use the organisation’s equipment to capture photos and videos
7.7 Ensure signed parental consent is in place beforehand
7.8 Ensure the child knows why the images are being taken and that they have agreed, do not carry on if they are uncomfortable or have said no
7.9 All online sessions, including 1:1 sessions will be recorded and held by CBC Education
8. Physical Contact
8.1 Be mindful that physical contact can be misconstrued by the child or observer
8.2 Always be prepared to report and explain your actions
8.3 Be aware of cultural and religious views on touch
9. One to One Situations
9.1 Only work 1:1 in agreed situations
9.2 Avoid remote or secluded areas
9.3 Report situations when a child becomes angry or distressed
9.4 Inform colleagues where you are
9.5 Parents or carers are expected to be present during any 1:1 tutoring
10. Transporting students
CBC Education staff and volunteers will not transporting students.
11. Personal Care
11.1 CBC Education staff and volunteers will not take on any personal care tasks
12. Reporting Concerns
12.1 You must listen to, and act upon, any disclosures, allegations or concerns about the welfare of children
12.2 If a child demonstrates inappropriate behaviour towards you ensure this is reported immediately
12.3 Be responsible for reporting any safeguarding concerns
12.4 Ensure you report any behaviour by colleagues which raises concerns.
