FAQs

  • At CBC Education, we believe that education is a transformative journey that extends far beyond exam results. Our mission is to empower students to build not just academic skills, but also the confidence and passion needed to pursue their wider dreams.

We take a comprehensive, student-led approach, carefully rebuilding foundational skills and making learning relatable to each individual's life goals. Our patient guidance fosters an appreciation for education that lasts a lifetime, helping every student realise their full potential.

  • CBC Education is built on the belief that academic support should be accessible to all students, not just those who can afford it. That’s why we offer means-tested and free tutoring places to families who may not otherwise have access to private tuition. We focus on creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment through small group and 1-1 sessions, delivered online or in person by DBS-checked tutors trained in safeguarding.

Unlike larger platforms that act as marketplaces, we provide consistent, structured support using Wise.live to share resources and track progress. Our policies are clear and fair — from payment and cancellations to tutor conduct — and we prioritise long-term relationships over one-off transactions. CBC Education combines the personal care of a small business with the professionalism of a trusted educational provider.

  • The initial consultation is a chance for us to understand your child’s academic needs, learning style, and goals. We’ll talk through their current progress, any areas of concern, and what kind of support would be most effective — whether that’s group sessions, 1:1 tutoring, or a combination. Based on this conversation, we’ll create a personalised learning plan tailored to your child’s strengths and areas for development.

We’ll also explain how our sessions work, including scheduling, pricing, and access to resources via Google Classroom. If applicable, we’ll explore eligibility for means-tested or free tutoring places. The consultation is informal and pressure-free — it’s simply a space to ask questions, share goals, and see if CBC Education is the right fit.

  • Yes — all online sessions are recorded and automatically uploaded into the course area. This allows students to revisit lessons at their own pace, review key concepts, and catch up if they miss anything.

Recordings are only accessible to students who attended the session and are never shared publicly. This ensures both privacy and a secure learning environment for all participants.

  • Enrolling in online group sessions is a commitment for the full academic year. This structure is designed to give students continuity, build confidence over time, and ensure the best possible outcomes. Regular attendance allows tutors to deliver a consistent curriculum and support steady progress, while students benefit from being part of a stable learning group.

We understand that circumstances can change, so we’re always happy to discuss individual needs — but we encourage families to view group sessions as a long-term investment in their child’s education.

  • All payments are collected on the 1st of each month. For online group sessions, we offer a simple, equal monthly payment plan that runs until June, making budgeting straightforward for families. For 1:1 tutoring, individual invoices are issued based on the sessions booked.

Parents can view upcoming payments and manage their account directly through the app, ensuring full transparency and ease of access.

  • Yes! Current CBC Education students will be given priority access to workshops and a discounted rate as a thank-you for being part of our learning community. Details of the discount and booking process will be shared closer to the time of each workshop.

  • We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for any cancellations. If less notice is given, the session will still be charged in full. Where enough notice is received, the session can be rescheduled or carried forward to a future date, depending on tutor availability.

This policy helps us maintain fairness for both tutors and students, and ensures that learning time is protected and respected.

  • We currently offer GCSE English and Maths tutoring through both group and 1:1 sessions. These core subjects are delivered by experienced, DBS-checked tutors using structured learning plans and resources via Google Classroom.

We’re planning to expand our subject offering in the coming years to support even more students across a wider range of GCSE subjects — stay tuned!

  • We offer tutoring for GCSE-level subjects, which typically supports students aged 14–16. However, we don’t group learners strictly by age — anyone preparing to sit their exams, or looking to challenge themselves academically, is welcome to join.

Our focus is on readiness and motivation, not age. If a student is working towards GCSEs or wants to deepen their understanding of English or Maths, we’ll tailor support to meet their needs.

  • We know that private tutoring can be out of reach for many families, which is why CBC Education offers a limited number of free and means-tested places in every group. These spots are reserved for students who need academic support but may not be able to afford it, helping us stay true to our mission of making education more accessible.

We’ve also worked hard to keep our pricing as competitive and transparent as possible, so that high-quality tutoring is within reach for more families. If cost is a concern, please reach out during the initial consultation — we’ll talk through your options and let you know if any supported places are available.
