1. Lesson Planning

Tutors must prepare structured lesson plans that align with the curriculum and learning objectives. Plans should include clear goals, differentiated activities, and resources to support diverse learners. Tutors are expected to submit plans in advance when requested and adapt them based on student progress.

2. Lesson Delivery

Lessons must be delivered in a professional, engaging, and inclusive manner. Tutors should use a variety of teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles and ensure active participation. Sessions must start and end on time, and tutors should maintain a positive and respectful learning environment.

3. Student Engagement

Tutors are expected to foster a supportive atmosphere that encourages student interaction and inquiry. Students should be motivated to complete pre-session work, participate actively, and reflect on their learning. Persistent disengagement should be addressed with parents and CBC Education leadership.

4. Assessment and Feedback

Tutors must regularly assess student progress through formative and summative methods. Constructive feedback should be provided promptly to guide improvement. Tutors should maintain records of assessments and communicate progress with students and parents as appropriate.

5. Professional Conduct

Tutors must uphold the highest standards of professionalism, including punctuality, preparedness, and respectful communication. They must adhere to CBC Education policies, including the Disintermediation Policy, and maintain appropriate boundaries with students and families.

6. Safeguarding

Tutors must complete DBS checks and safeguarding training prior to commencing work. Any concerns regarding student welfare must be reported immediately in accordance with CBC Education’s safeguarding procedures. Tutors must ensure that all interactions are safe, appropriate, and compliant with UK safeguarding legislation.

7. Continuous Improvement

Tutors are encouraged to engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice. CBC Education may provide training opportunities and performance reviews to support tutor growth and effectiveness.

8. Alignment with UK Educational Best Practices

All teaching and learning practices must align with UK educational standards, including the National Curriculum and guidance from the Department for Education. Tutors should remain informed of current pedagogical approaches and legal requirements relevant to their subject area and student age group.
